1.The
turnout was once again very dismal - 23 out of around 50 volunteers;
despite mails (even reminder mails) being personally sent to all the
volunteers. Out of the absent volunteers, only 5 confirmed their
unavailability.
2.A set of FAQs was circulated among the volunteers which contained fundamental questions about ideology and functioning of PRAYAS. These FAQs highlighted working methodolgy , functioning of assembly, health issues related to children , general doubts of volunteers etc. . All the questions were discussed and suggestions were invited .
3. Issue regarding diversity of syllabus in a same class was raised , which could be sorted out by first taking the intersection of the syllabus and if possible, go for the union of the syllabus .
4. To tackle the above point and maintain a continuity in syllabus among the fluctuating volunteers , it was proposed that a curriculum should be developed for all the classes .
5. Issue regarding managing students with different intellect level in a same class was discussed ,especially in primary wing. It was proposed to divide the kids in two different sections.A separate meeting was also proposed for all primary teachers to discuss their curriculum.
6. Direct impact of Health on education of kids was discussed and everyone decided to explore options for ensuring proper healthcare of kids . Certain options are tie-up with certain medical institution at marginalized rates or some group insurance for the kids. We are still open to suggestions .
7. Issue regarding punctuality of volunteers was discussed , and it was sad to know that some of us are taking things for granted. It was also resolved that if a volunteer is late by more than 15 mins (5.30 pm) and an alternative volunteer has been arranged, he would not be allowed to take over the class.
8. For teaching kids or conducting extra curricular activities on Sunday , time slots were decided. 8 am - 12 am & 4 pm - 7pm .To ensure a kid spends sufficient time with his family too , it was decided to indulge a kid in one activity only.
9. A discussion took place regarding 'Hamara Manch' , a platform to take care of grievances of the workers in campus. Some respectable alumni working in this direction are visiting our campus from 5th - 8th March and are having a meeting with PRAYAS members on 7th March.Anyone who has any past experiences with workers related issues or improper functioning of authorities can share their experiences with us @ sambit91.mishra@gmail.com ; csambharia3833@gmail.com .These experiences will be shared in the upcoming meeting on 7th March.
9. Seeing our reluctance to write an unavailability mail or text or comment, it was proposed to make PRAYAS meeting as an event (in facebook) where they just have to click on an a tab to ensure their non availability. We hope that we can at least take some precious time from our extremely hectic schedule and also some amount of effort to click on an option. If this also seems too much, please reply with an alternative. (Oops I forgot that replying to mail is too much to ask from a "volunteer". Apologies for the same.)
